BTF is one of the first to offer Net Zero home designs that include the mechanical HVAC and Solar PV designs in one plan set - ready to go!

Our ability to provide stock plan sets with this level of detail depends on customers verifying which of our plans will work for their needs.

How to choose a BTF Plan?

Choosing a BTF Plan that will work for you:

1. Determine which Climate Zone you may be in

Our plans work for construction in Climate Zones 5A through 8.

Make sure your construction location is in one of these zones.

For help - see the map on our Frequently Asked Questions Page

https://netzerohomeplans.com/faqs

2. Determine what your electrical needs are

Building a Spec Home? Skip this step.

Our plans meet (and often exceed) the minimum DOE Net Zero Energy Ready Solar PV requirements.

Building a home for your family?

A family's electrical usage needs is very specific to your size & habits.

Do you use a a microwave daily?  Are you at the oven 8 hours a day 7 days a week?!

Are you good about turning off extra lights?Do you have a dozen computers?!

Use an online calculator to estimate your electrical needs.

We've recently developed an Energy / Power Consumption Calculator to help our customers with this step!

With your electrical needs in hand, reference our Plan Book Comparison Table.

Look at the estimated Solar PV columns, to verify which plans will meet your needs.

For ease, we have it as a single sheet PDF for download here:  https://netzerohomeplans.com/btf-plan-comparison-table

3. Narrow down the options

With a list of plans that meet your electrical needs, review the design North arrows.

Verify design North (the intended orientation of our plan designs) works for your building site.

Design North can be found within the Plan Books. Downloads here:

4. Purchase

Once you've made your final BTF home plan selection.

Purchase your plan here on our website!

Choose the Net Zero option or Net Zero Plus Attached Garages if applicable.

(You may choose the PDF file add on,  perhaps send to your local jurisdiction for permitting or to a local engineer for review if required by your AHJ. We recommend checking with your local building department for the most current requirements.)

5. Build!

Our plans are designed for contractors ease. Simply follow the plan set & provided documents.

And you should have a Net Zero, Fossil Fuel Free home!
