A family's electrical usage needs is very specific to your size & habits. If you believe your family uses A LOT of electricity, try an online calculator to estimate your electrical needs. If your usage is high, perhaps pick a plan with a larger solar PV KW array size!

Our plans are designed for contractors ease. Simply follow the plan set & provided documents. And you should have a Net Zero, Fossil Fuel Free home!

Net Zero Certification + Energy Analysis & HVAC designs Provided 

BTF homes are designed to participate in the DOE ZERH, EPA AirPLUS, and Energy STAR Certified Homes program requirements. Each plan set provides the needed geographic data, energy modeling analysis, system sizing, preliminary HVAC equipment selections, solar PV system analysis and more to meet the DOE requirements & the requirements of other State by State Net Zero & high efficiency design standards. 


Contractors ease  + Construction on nearly any site in 35 States

BTF plans are designed for construction spanning from North Carolina to Alaska! We designed around common building materials & construction methods. (ie. 2x6 walls, common window U-values, etc.) We also added flexibility for contractors to use materials they prefer as long as they meet our design R-values.

Fossil fuel free HVAC 

All of our designs are fossil fuel free & carbon free should you choose to skip the optional pellet stove.

Our only quirk: Our plans have a pre-determined North. 

A set North was required to design the energy analysis, HVAC systems, PV solar array and Net Zero elements. With this in mind we designed our homes to be beautiful from all sides.
